Our Family
Mark & I have 7 children and 4 grandchildren and we can’t forget our dog that runs the show. Lady, our black and tan coonhound, who adopted us and stole our hearts, loves traveling with us to the beach and is usually the center of attention.
The kids love coming to the beach and the grandchildren have grown up staying with us at the beach house where we have created wonderful family memories.
They enjoy playing on the beach and swimming as much as possible, but when they get too much sun or need a change of pace they enjoy trips to the zoo, miniature golf, zip lining and eating at our favorite restaurants. There is always something fun to do in Gulf Shores.
Our Story
After vacationing in the Gulf Shores area for over 30 years, we finally decided to purchase a condo in a complex that was under construction. I guess you’d say we were a little eager to have our own place at the beach because while the condo was under construction we found a duplex on West Beach that we couldn’t pass up.
We fell in love with West Beach because of its quiet beaches where you have room for a large family to spread out and enjoy the beauty of the Gulf. The convenience of never having to wait for an elevator or to search for our car in the parking garage was a delightful benefit of having a home on the beach vs a condo. We liked beach house living so much we sold the condo and purchased another beachfront home in 2013.
After falling into the hospitality business by accident and discovering how much we enjoy meeting new people and making their beach vacation dreams come true, we decided to build a home. We purchased the lot in the fall of 2015 and Porter’s Mark welcomed its first guests in June of 2016.
When building Porter’s Mark we tried to think of everything and from the sounds of our guests’ comments, I think we got it right. We pride ourselves on our southern hospitality and taking good care of our guests. We manage all aspects of the property personally and are available to assist you with planning your stay.
