Porter's Mark

We stayed at Porter's Mark in October 2017 during hurricane Nate. Our beach wedding outside the house was scheduled on the day that hurricane Nate made landfall in Gulf Shores. Kate was an absolute pleasure to work with regarding the entire stay/situation and I can't say how thankful I am because of it. We will without question be staying again in the near future. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and memory!

This house is above and beyond amazing. We stayed there with our children and grandchildren for my 60th birthday vacation and everything we could possibly think of was at our disposal. The grandchildren loved the pool and the fact that the adults could sit in the shade on the deck was a huge plus. The beach is just steps away. We can't wait to return to Porter's Mark. Thank you Kate and Mark for opening up your beautiful home to us. We felt very spoiled. It will be hard to stay in another house after staying here.

Porter's Mark is elegantly appointed with no details spared. We got married on the beach behind it in a small ceremony with family and a few friends. With kitchens on 2 levels, and plenty of room for everyone, it lent itself well to a catered bbq Friday night, a formal dinner Saturday, and Sunday brunch. We beached it, fished, and went out to dinner one night, but the view was so beautiful, it kept us there most of the rest of the week. It's on a quiet stretch of west beach far enough from the crowds, but close enough to shopping and restaurants. The elevator was really convenient for the octogenarians in our group. We made fabulous memories for a lifetime! Thank you, Kate and Mark! We can't wait to return.

Our stay at Kate and Mark Porter's house was nothing short of perfect. They thought of everything when they built this house. We shared a week with our six children, their spouses, and our 17 grandchildren from 2 months old to16 years old. There was plenty of space for all to feel like the vacation was built for them. The kitchen was gourmet. What a joy to have every need at your fingertips. Having a bedroom with a private bath for each family was a special treat. The décor of the house was impeccable. Kate has a real design touch and it showed in the house. The pool and the beach was used daily by all. I can't say enough about how we enjoyed the week. I would recommend this house to any large family looking for a special week. For our family, this will be the vacation with memories for a lifetime. If you are thinking of a perfect place for a family reunion, this is the place for you.

Great house at a great location. We rented the lower two of three floors - the owner uses the top floor. Kitchens, living areas, and balconies are spacious - our group of 18 mostly adults didn't feel cramped. Floor plans are similar, the first has one less bedroom so has a larger kitchen and extra table for eating. Bedrooms were not too small and had en-suite bathroom and TV. An extra half-bathroom is available on each floor. A covered grill, sink, and bar area are located poolside. Decking, pool, and plentiful outdoor furniture are built to last and were in good condition. The beach is beautiful - wide, clean, and not too crowded with no large apartments nearby. Owners Mark and Kate were staying at the house and were very friendly and helpful. We had a few minor issues with broken chair, coffee makers, fire alarms, and ice makers; Mark was quick to respond and addressed most of the issues. No beach towels, chairs, umbrellas/shelter, or coolers are provided with the house.
